Hello dear house-building community,

we have now built our own home and are happy and satisfied with it. Now we want to start beautifying the garden, and from spring onwards we want to decorate our garden with a gazebo. I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with the assembly and fastening of a gazebo? The ground is currently just grass and soil.

What type of foundation would you recommend?

Thank you all

What kind of pavilion? Material, size, design...

... and what do you want to do under the pavilion? Bench and table, sandbox, grill or an elephant shelter?

Hi everyone,

first of all, thank you for your responses. This piece of jewelry is the one: link removed by moderation; construction expert, or rather, we have already ordered it and are just waiting for delivery. The material is iron and it weighs nearly 200 kg in the end.

We think that it might be too heavy for a ground made of soil, as it will probably sink as soon as it rains. We also might want to create a seating area underneath, so it would probably be better to create a solid ground. We just don’t know whether wood or stone, or if there might be completely different options.

What would you suggest?

For this material (wrought iron), a natural stone pavement fits very well IMHO (for the seating area). For the pavilion, I would probably drive in three ground anchors and secure the pavilion with ropes/loops.
