Prices for New Single- and Two-Family Houses Are Booming

The upward trend in real estate prices continues in November. According to the Hypoport House Price Index, the increase is weaker than in the previous month. Not so with new buildings: the prices for new single- and two-family houses rise the most with 0.51 percent.

The upward trend in new build prices continues in November.
The HPX overall index remains above the 104-point mark in November at 104.91 points, which it exceeded for the first time in October, and rises by 0.41 percent to 104.91 points. This value reaches a new high again, although its increase is slowing down. The overall value is 4.75 percent above the previous year (November 2010: 100.15 points). The weakest increase among the HPX indices is recorded by the prices for condominiums with 0.23 percent. Prices for existing properties rise by 0.50 percent to 98.50 points.

Condominiums: Slightly Increasing

Prices for condominiums rise in November by 0.23 percent to the new high of 104.40 points. The index value is thus 2.90 percent above the previous year (November 2010: 101.46 points). This is the second monthly increase in a row and at the same time the weakest increase among the three HPX sub-indices in November.

New Single- and Two-Family Houses: Strongly Increasing

Prices for new single- and two-family houses rise the most in November: by 0.51 percent to the new high of 111.83 points. New build prices are rising again after their price increase had weakened in the previous month (increase in October 2011: 0.33 percent; increase in September 2011: 1.22 percent).

Existing Single- and Two-Family Houses: Increasing

The price index for existing single- and two-family houses rises by 0.50 percent to 98.50 points. Compared to the strong increase in the previous month (increase in October 2011: 2.33 percent), the price increase in November weakens significantly.
