Hello everyone,

after having read quite a bit here in the forum, I now have to ask a question.
Briefly in advance:
We are building a "solid house in prefabricated construction" – that is, lightweight expanded clay walls (Klimapor) with a general contractor. (190m2 living space in BY)
As part of the selection process, we decided on a "climate ceiling" – in fact a water-based ceiling surface heating system.
According to the standard construction description, a floor heating system would have been installed.

Now today came the surcharge list:
Almost €16,000 surcharge for the ground floor
Plus about €12,000 surcharge for the attic
That makes a total of €28,000 surcharge for the climate ceiling vs. floor heating.

I have no insight as to whether this amount is a realistic surcharge or extortion.
Therefore my question to the community:
Can someone classify the price for me?

Best regards and thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, I can't, but you can imagine that it costs more. Higher installation effort. Also, with the general contractor you actually have no choice. Take it or leave it. I definitely wouldn't do it; for the extra cost, you could get floor heating three times over.

Apart from that, I think cooling from the ceiling makes sense, but definitely not heating. Heat rises, and people don't want a warm head either.

Which system is installed?

For cooling, the ceiling is ideal. Nowadays, almost every modern office building is air-conditioned this way. When heating, you must ensure that the ceiling temperature does not exceed 35 degrees. Otherwise, there will be headaches.

Unfortunately, no exact system is mentioned. It simply says climate ceiling - the company is Lechner Massivhaus. Considering the additional cost, I am just thinking about sticking to underfloor heating and simply installing an air conditioner...

This will definitely be cheaper and possibly more comfortable.

Here is this image... Comfort of heating types. Underfloor heating is closest to the ideal heating:

Thank you very much for the opinions. The only question then is how to best implement the air conditioning. Since it is a flat roof, I would most likely place the outdoor unit on the roof and from there control the indoor units...

The ceiling heating is officially out then *laugh*
