Hello!
We are probably going to build a single-family house with about 200m² of living space next year. We are considering equipping it with a central controlled residential ventilation system with heat recovery. I am generally aware of the advantages and disadvantages of controlled residential ventilation. What I would like are some experiences from people who already have a residential ventilation system. I hope some of those people are around here.

[*]Do you hear any noises from the system? If yes, is it a constant noise or does the system turn on and off from time to time as needed?
[*]Can you feel a draft in different places?
[*]How often do the air filters need to be changed, and how expensive are they?
[*]Do you personally find the ventilation pleasant or unpleasant? What bothers you, and what do you enjoy about it?
[*]Which manufacturer is your ventilation system from?
[*]Did you have any specific problems during installation, defects, or unplanned events?

Additionally, I have two technical questions:

[*]Does the system only push air into the room and therefore create a slight overpressure, or does it only extract air and therefore create a slight underpressure, or is the air actively moved both at the inlet and outlet?

hello,

no idea if anyone is still interested:

[*]Can you hear any noises from the system? If yes, is it a continuous noise or does the system turn on and off as needed from time to time?

according to my understanding, hardly any noises should be audible. however, our system can be heard because some work was done carelessly. my advice: only have it installed by an experienced specialist company and be meticulous about all connections and careful laying.

[*]Is there a draft to be felt at different spots?

no. unless you hold your hand in front of a ventilation valve.

[*]How often do the air filters need to be changed, and how expensive are they?

2-3 euros per filter, you always need two. if I remember correctly, every 2 months. you can also buy them on a roll, which is considerably cheaper.

[*]Do you personally find the ventilation pleasant or unpleasant? What bothers you, and what do you enjoy about it?

never again without. always fresh air in the house, no problems with moisture. apart from the energy-saving effect. however, the air can become a bit dry during cold winters. we have placed many plants in the rooms.

[*]From which manufacturer is your ventilation?

Tecalor.

[*]Did you have any specific problems during installation, defects or unexpected events?

as already mentioned, noticeably audible in some rooms.

[*]Can you hear any noises from the system? If yes, is it a constant noise or does the system turn on and off as needed from time to time?

With normal air exchange and proper planning and execution, a ventilation system is silent. In practice, however, comfort losses and disturbing flow noises occur repeatedly due to insufficient sound attenuation (telephone silencers, branch silencers, etc.) resulting in noises from the distribution and from the air exchange system or the compact unit.

[*]Is a draft noticeable at different points?

With professional execution "No"! To clarify, if a burning incense stick is held 25 cm next to the supply air valve, the smoke will not be swirled by the outgoing airflow.

[*]How often do the air filters have to be changed, and how expensive are they?

Most ventilation systems detect the degree of filter contamination via the fan drive resistance and issue an error message. We change the filter once a year at the external supply air register of the air-ground heat exchanger and three times a year the filters before and after the heat exchanger in the ventilation unit. Total cost about 10 euros from self-cut filter material. We only use our ventilation system during the heating season; in the transition period and in winter, the ventilation system is out of operation.

[*]Do you personally find the ventilation pleasant or unpleasant? What bothers you, and what do you enjoy about it?

There is nothing better than keeping the windows closed during subzero temperatures and having fresh air in the house without having to open the windows. Tending to be, the air in energy-saving, well-insulated buildings is rather drier. By reducing the air exchange with dry cold air, humidity can be improved. A ventilation system is also a more effective building protection.

[*]Did you have any specific problems during installation, defects, or unplanned events?

None! The system was completely installed by myself. With technical expertise, one can do this oneself.

[*]Does the system only blow air into the room and therefore build up a slight overpressure, or does it only extract air and therefore build up a slight underpressure, or is the air actively moved at both the inlet and outlet?

No over- or underpressure is generated. There are two fans in central residential ventilation systems, one for supply air and one for exhaust air; these operate simultaneously.

Huh? Do you use it only in winter (= heating season) or only in summer and not in winter?!

Thank you for the note!
Correctly, it should of course be: "We only use our ventilation system during the heating season; during the transitional period and in summer, the ventilation system is out of service."
