Hello dear forum members,

can someone help with the following question. I have had several pad foundations made under my concrete patio slabs at the corners of the terrace. Now I want to subsequently create strip foundations (for conservatory sliding doors) between the pad foundations. Can someone give me a tip on how I can connect the existing pad foundations with the new strip foundations? Goal: load distribution!

Thanks in advance and best regards
Michael

What payload are we talking about per sqm. But it will probably come down to beams. Alternatively, fill the whole thing with concrete.

Hello,

a connection to an existing foundation is usually done as follows:

Drill sideways into the foundation every 100mm about 350-400mm deep (ø16 / ø18) and then glue connection irons there, e.g. with Hilti HIT-HY 200.
Let them protrude 500mm out of the foundation and bend the last 100mm at a 90° angle. This way you can later hang and securely tie in the longitudinal reinforcement of the new strip foundation there.

As already asked, it of course depends on the loads applied to the foundation.
The strip foundation will quickly become 500mm wide and 800mm deep.

My extension won't even get such a massive foundation. There won't be any steel vault doors after all. The weight of the patio roof is already supported by the point foundations. Now it's only about the glazing.

Thank you very much for the explanation. It has become clearer now. Regarding the load, I have not yet received exact specifications, but according to my calculations, it should be a maximum of 250kg. Four ESG (8mm) glass sliding elements with a height of approximately 2.2m will be installed over a length of 4m. If all elements are opened on one side, then a maximum of 250kg per meter will act.
