Hello!

I have been thinking about "wallpapering" one of my rooms completely with plastic plexiglass (acrylic or makrolon). That means the panels should be mounted directly on the wall and have a thickness of about 8mm.
These should then be illuminated from below with LEDs^^

Now the question is whether I can do this with the exterior walls of the house without getting a problem like mold formation in the wall.
I heard that the exterior walls have to be able to "breathe"...

Would something like this be possible??
Thanks in advance..

What do you understand by "breathing" walls? A wall certainly cannot breathe. You probably mean "diffusion". This is also very low in a wall (I once read somewhere that about 2 - 3% of humidity escapes through the walls, the rest through openings like windows). I am not an expert, but I could imagine that condensation might be a problem in some cases. To assess this, one would have to know how the exterior walls are constructed (material, insulation present). The Plexiglas panels probably have no insulating effect, but they do block moisture from both sides. While moisture cannot penetrate from the inside into the masonry, moisture can also no longer escape from the masonry. With interior insulation, at least the surface temperature of the wall is increased, which is probably not the case with Plexiglas panels. Apart from the fact that I consider this a crazy idea anyway, I would rather not do it. But as already mentioned, I am not an expert. Regards
