Hello community,

in our planning, the topic of the garage has now also come up.
It is supposed to be built as a basement garage in the house.
Now, both some general contractors and plasterers have estimated prices ranging from well over 1000.- to about 2000.- for the interior plaster of the garage.
I have also read that the garage could be clad and filled with gypsum board panels in EL. (We want to do dry construction anyway in EL). That would probably bring us material costs of under 500.-.
The question now is whether the panels could be damaged in the unheated garage.
On the one hand, I am aware that it gets quite cool there in winter and that rain and snow also bring more moisture into the garage, on the other hand, it is a basement garage that probably never cools below 10 degrees. Also, it might be possible to use the green impregnated panels? The whole thing doesn’t have to win a beauty prize, but I would like to lay the electrical installation flush-mounted, otherwise I might not even plaster the wall.
Many thanks for your opinion or even expert advice. Maybe someone has even already done something like this.

I would plaster - impregnated plasterboard panels do have a certain resistance to moisture, but not permanent high humidity - and you will have that in the basement. And it is not only the winter that is problematic, but also the summer, because every time you open [the door/windows] you let in a rush of warm, humid air. Lime-cement plaster and you will have no problems with mold or the like.

I agree, at least the walls with lime-cement plaster. With a wooden beam ceiling, you could still use the green plasterboard panels.

What does the rest of the basement look like?

From the garage, it goes into the heated hallway. Otherwise, a heated office, the [Technikraum], and a storage room are planned in the basement. Upstairs to the ground floor for a staircase, but everything is open from the hallway’s perspective.
