Hello everyone,

I would like to plant fruit trees in the garden, but I am not quite sure which fruit trees can be planted next to each other and which cannot. Do you have any advice on that? I am already looking forward to your answers.

Hi Rosanne,

I don’t know of any reason why different fruit trees wouldn’t get along. However, when planting, you do need to make sure that the trees don’t stay small forever, but later require much more space than at the time of planting. That means the distance between the individual trees must be appropriate!!

What you also need to pay attention to is that not all fruit trees will thrive in your climate zone, I don’t know where you live. Fruit trees usually need enough sun and warmth so that the fruits can develop well and the trees don’t get sick.

So adjust the varieties to your residential area!

What you can do, however, is plant herbs between the fruit trees that protect the trees and promote their growth!

Best regards,
Gartengestaltung ;)

Hi!

And which herbs go with which fruit trees? I also have, for example, some old apple trees. What could I plant there? You always have to be careful with the types of fruit trees that they are suitable for the area where you live. Is that right?

Best regards,
sennor :)

Mixed culture: apple tree and herbs

Hi,

there are obviously many different possibilities. As we have already discussed in other threads, herbs can be used to protect and strengthen other plants and also trees.

One plant that is very suitable to plant near fruit trees is nasturtium (Tropaeolum). A "pest" that causes the most trouble for apple trees is the woolly aphid. The apple tree is its favorite tree. Woolly aphids suck on the branches and twigs, even on the roots, and their saliva secretions cause cancer-like growths on the trees.

To protect the apple trees from woolly aphids, nasturtiums are used, which exert such a strong attraction on these aphids that they prefer to infest the nasturtiums! :D

Best regards,

hi!

I can only confirm that nasturtiums protect the apple trees. my tip would be: to combine nasturtiums with marigolds. it also looks very pretty visually!

best regards, Mara :)

Hello!

I have already heard of marigolds, they are also the main ingredient of this well-known [Ringelblumensalbe]. But I have really never heard the word "Kapuzinerkresse" in my life. What kind of plant is that? It would be nice if you could tell me a bit more about it.

Best regards, sennor ;)
