Hello everyone,

I have a question again.

We are planning a new building and the floor plan that we like very much has a roof orientation towards SE/NW. This means we have sun on one half of the roof from sunrise until noon/early afternoon and on the other half from noon until sunset.

Without making complicated calculations.

On which side would we get more yield over the year, or would the investment in photovoltaics be worthwhile at all with this orientation?

Thank you very much

Regards

- Southeast and northwest. That means splitting the system if the irradiation is actually as described. - Depending on the roof pitch, the loss compared to optimal southern orientation is rather academic. - In a private house, build the system optimized for self-consumption. With enough daytime electricity consumption (industry, office) or surplus money, fully utilize both sides.

I would no longer install northeast at a DN beyond 30°. The roof is in shadow forever or is only illuminated at a very steep angle.

The OP has it like this. To better assess this, one must know the situation on site exactly, including the planned roof pitch and possibly shading & co. If this is designed correctly, he can shift the power generation somewhat into the morning and evening hours.

Sorry, I also mean Northwest.

That may be a hint of evening sun, but rather probably not economical.
