Hello everyone. I just saw that the row of paving stones on the right has slightly sunk to the side... Somehow there is hardly any joint material left in there... The path was only laid 5 months ago. Gravel etc. was all compacted before and afterwards as well. Does anyone know what could be the reason? From the severe frost that has been occurring in the last few days?

Yes, the frost could be the cause. But only if mistakes were made during construction.

How deep is the curb founded at the edge? This curb has settled and/or been pushed away. Presumably not constructed properly. This is not only due to frost.

Take a picture of the surroundings. Is the house on the right?

Complaint to the construction company.

With frost/temperature fluctuations, any material moves. Despite all compaction measures, it still happens repeatedly that something sinks, even if you go over it 3 more times with the rammer. We had an area paved in front of the house and after a few years, you could clearly see the edge where concrete was underneath and where the natural AND rammed soil was. Under our terrace slab, a cavity about 30cm in size had formed over 30 years. I would wait and see what else happens unless you have something like a limited warranty period against this sinking. For this reason, I am not a fan of laying on gravel, because I have already seen too many waves despite prior contrary assurances.

.. and if you don’t have a guarantee on it, then wait another 1-3 years before reworking, because there might still be more changes.
