Hello,

I have 2 garages next to my apartment, one of which I want to convert into living space. The partition wall between the garages is only 11 cm thick and will, through the conversion, become a partition wall between the apartment and the garage.
1. Is the wall compliant with building regulations, or does it need to be thicker for fire protection reasons (Hamburg Building Regulations)?
2. Does the wall need to be insulated according to the Energy Saving Ordinance?
I would prefer to leave the wall as it is. But, of course, the laws should be complied with.

Hello,

no, it is completely serious. I lack the money for a renovation according to today's standards. The plan is: half-brick up the garage door, install a window, install a connecting door to the apartment, lay screed. How is the legal situation? I need more storage space. Large cabinets should be placed in the new room. The room is not to be heated very much, so the heating costs should be kept within limits.
