Good evening,
we had painting work done in our semi-detached house (6 months old). The responsible company is driving us crazy.
There were constant disputes during the execution. The work was botched endlessly. Listing the defects would exceed the scope here. We even paid an extra charge to get the best quality of workmanship.
After the work was completed, we had the master painter come himself. After inspecting the work in the first room, he was immediately willing to reduce the price by €2000. In addition, we noticed that he had overcharged several items, in some cases up to twice the amount of the actual work done.
Now we have been living in the house for half a year and are annoyed almost daily by the poor execution. The outcome is also getting worse, and by that I do not mean the inevitable cracks that occur because the house is still settling.
We deliberately had the surface sanded smooth and painting fleece applied. This was supposed to be painted twice. Meanwhile, we doubt that this happened, as many areas do not have any paint coverage at all. Moreover, the paint is applied very thickly, so that the surface of the fleece, which was actually expected to be smooth, almost has the texture of woodchip wallpaper. You can see every cut edge that occurred during the laying work.
My question: Can it still be determined afterwards (e.g. by an expert) whether it was really painted twice (this was separately and expensively charged)? Is the thick layer of paint a defect?
We no longer believe a word from the brothers and will probably consult an expert.
Thank you very much for hopefully helpful answers!
