Hello everyone,

we want to soon paint our floating cement screed in the basement. We plan to paint it with 1K cement screed floor paint since it is only a utility room/laundry room. Do you have any product recommendations for us? Before painting, we thought to first prime with adhesion primer. Do you think a standard adhesion primer from the hardware store is sufficient for this, or should we already use the special 2K epoxy primers? (These would be extremely expensive.)

Our main question, however, is how best to close the gap where the edge insulation strip (looks like blue foam) protrudes.
- Cut flush and fill with acrylic in the cove? If yes, how many days/weeks in advance would you fill because acrylic still shrinks?!
- Cut flush and skim with polyurethane?

The drying process of our screed was completed on 01.01 and according to the builder ready for flooring. However, there is also a PE foil under the screed.

Or do you have other suggestions?

This was about an outdoor area, but still worth a look:

Quite crazy people often use baseboards at this point. There are also very subtle cove moldings, or you can simply use the kitchen countertop strips. They come in all shapes and colors, even with sealing lips.

Otherwise, without cladding: I would rather use silicone than acrylic.

What does the paint manufacturer or the technical data sheet say? 2K primer with 1K paint is not always the best idea.
