Hello dear forum,
we are currently in the intensive planning phase for a massive single-family house. Now we have heard from friends who are building a house that during the first 2 years after moving in, the final floor covering - except for tiles - should not be applied. The concrete is said to continue drying out for that long and there could possibly be moisture damage underneath the floor. Our general contractor said yes, that’s the case, you would just have to leave some expansion gaps in the laminate or something similar or first lay down a lower-quality carpet and finish everything nicely later. At least that’s how we laymen understood it. Is that really so? Maybe one of your experts can clarify this for us, that would be great!
Thank you very much, Mecc
