Sorry, a "and" or a "paragraph" would probably have been better there, I thought it would be clear that these were two different points...

I am on your side - Wastewater must be transported out of the house by the most direct route. With water pipes, it is not entirely avoidable to lay them through the house (depending on the floor plan).

That surely doesn’t come for free. So it’s worth considering why or how often someone would go from the guest room onto the terrace. Especially since, according to the plan, the terrace doesn’t even connect there. Also keep in mind that every exit only makes sense if it isn’t blocked.

Otherwise, the kitchen wouldn’t be really my thing either. Pantry rooms seem to me nowadays like a southern German thing; I only know something like that from my grandma (and there it’s a correspondingly cold room, etc.). I’d also skip the wall and door and instead make the kitchen bigger. That would also give room to perhaps rethink the arrangement of the appliances. Freestanding refrigerators only look good in higher price ranges, since the side panels, for example, are often made of cheaper material than the front. You can often also see the technology from the side at the back (cooling fins, etc.), which I don’t find very attractive. Besides, I find it impractical to have no surface next to the refrigerator. Both for emptying and filling it, especially when storing groceries. Next to the cooking area, I’d like space on both sides; I’m not a fan of cooking areas in corners or at the end of countertops.

Hello,

The kitchen is a disaster
I would rotate the stairs, the toilet on the upper floor needs to be moved forward ...
We have a pinned post in this forum, created by me.
You should provide the information, especially the layout plan

Do you urgently need the room on the ground floor as a space now? I would possibly remove the partition wall in favor of a larger living/dining room and possibly have it installed later if needed.

Otherwise: Leave out the pantry, it wastes space in the kitchen, have the utility room door open inward.

The staircase takes up a lot of space. If you want to keep it as is, enlarge the room upstairs (bottom/left).

Consider whether you want to place the staircase directly next to the entrance area. This way, you carry the "dirt" from the entrance directly upstairs. Possibly really turn the staircase around.

Edit:

We currently have the refrigerator standing against the wall in the dining area; it doesn’t look nice from the side, not exactly cheap, but you can see the coils.

Good evening everyone...

Thank you very much for your answers, suggestions for improvement.

We have already experienced what it means to have a pantry, so we decided on that some time ago. Furthermore, we have an almost brand-new good kitchen that fits perfectly; only 2 cabinets would need to be reordered. As for the refrigerator and the coils, thank you for the tip, we were not really aware of that before... we will look for/consider a solution. (my wife is in charge when it comes to the kitchen).

: I was thinking of more storage space if I can open the door outwards. What is your thought? Or what would it bring in your opinion?
: in case someone from the family has to move in with us (great-grandparents etc.) this person would have a separate way outside. Since we painted a window, it will be a small expense. As for the terrace, thanks for the tip, we will take care of it
: very good approach regarding the dirt, thank you! Turning the stairs is worth considering, but what about the slope then? Or do I not quite understand what you mean?

Thanks to you all and have a nice evening
