Hello!

On the Ikea page, I find separate base cabinets for sinks, where the metal piece for the countertop support on top is different. Is that only relevant because the cabinet could also be used for ovens, or is it actually important for sinks as well?

If not, I would like to use this one for the built-in(!) sink, since with our pipe situation the back panel has to be completely removed anyway, but I would need an intact 80x80 back panel elsewhere, like a Pax back panel.

Have the same question. Also, you save 4 euros.

That too. So, I am 99% sure that you can use the regular cabinets with built-in sinks (with the fully overlay sinks, I don't know). I don't see anything in the instructions that contradicts this, since the sinks are only connected to the countertop.

The cutout in the back panel of the sink cabinet doesn't fit with mine anyway, so I leave the panel out completely. I will probably even use only a 37 cm deep bottom panel because I would have to saw it anyway.

There is another reason that is not documented anywhere but is certainly not unimportant. When the cutout for the sink and cooktop is made, even a 40mm solid wood slab retains little of its stiffness and load-bearing capacity. This is where the corner profile comes into play, as it is significantly stiffer vertically than the normal flat cross brace.

Now a sink will survive this, but the flex of the countertop could easily be large enough without the corner profile that the silicone seal of the sink tears if you lean on the sink or stand on the countertop there (the latter theoretically, but I have stood there with one foot while working on the upper part of the kitchen).

Ok, that convinces me of course. I don't plan to climb on the sink, but for four euros I don't have to take any risks.
