When I asked the electrician where the doorbell and gong were actually planned, we were told "You wanted to make a doorbell yourself, so we didn’t plan for anything." I was totally taken aback. According to the construction service description, a simple doorbell recess and gong are included in the scope of work.
I had an additional service to lay a cable for a later porch (doorbell, LAN, power). They just thought "Great, the client will take care of it himself, so we don’t need to install a doorbell." But the porch will only come later anyway, and in the meantime our visitors are supposed to knock on the door (in a new building!!)???!!
Now we are being offered a wireless doorbell as a replacement since the house is about to be handed over and is basically finished!
My questions:
1:
Would you accept a battery-operated doorbell/gong in a new building?
2:
What possibilities are there for a wired system? The interior has already been plastered.
3:
Couldn’t one install a doorbell button outside and then connect it in a flush-mounted box with a transformer (power could be taken from an internal socket)?
