I am still in the process of planning my new kitchen. Only now have I noticed that there are no doors at a height of 160 cm! That’s annoying.

I have a built-in Siemens refrigerator that is 157.7 cm tall and requires a niche dimension of 158. If there were a 160 cm high door, it would fit if I moved the top shelf up, which would be behind the upper 60 cm door, and then I would have a uniform appearance thanks to the 60 cm high wall cabinets next to it. But that’s not possible! And what do I do now? I don’t want a 40 cm low mini door at the very top or bottom!

Why are there doors in 20 cm steps, but 160 cm is missing? Does Ikea really want to force customers to only buy Ikea appliances?

So much for customer interest!!!

There are only 4 out of about 100 built-in refrigerator models from Siemens that have this height...

Yes, and? It's not only Siemens. All people who have refrigerators from 140 cm to 160 cm height have the A... card. :(

At AEG I do not see a single refrigerator for a 158cm niche. If the market share of appliances in this size is so small, it is not worth offering an additional size for all front models.

*sigh* It's not just Siemens and AEG, and there aren't only the required 158 cm niches either. As I said, for all devices between 140 and 160, or even 166* cm height if you want, the owners have lost out and I don't believe there are that few. I've noticed that IKEA is a kind of sacred cow for you that you're not allowed to say anything against... but I do anyway.

* Edit: Meant 156 cm.

I have written against IKEA here several times, but if the market share of appliances that require a 160 cm tall door is very small, manufacturing them simply isn’t worthwhile, or they would have to be sold at too high a price. If I needed them, I would also be annoyed that they don’t exist, but one has to understand why they don’t. It is also no reason to buy a refrigerator from IKEA, since there are many alternative sizes from other manufacturers. If 166 cm exists, then you might as well go to 180 cm. I find it much worse that there are no 50 cm wide cabinets.
