You can do that, but it's probably the ugliest option you can imagine. However, there is a group of people who are totally into it - Turkish homeowners. For whatever reason...

That’s true. But your current tiles also lie on some kind of base layer, which would also have to be removed once the tiles are lifted, right?

They are only laid with adhesive on the concrete, which I do not want to remove. The tile is only 8 mm thick.
