Hello forum community. We bought an old (built in 1992) commercial property and have had "lots of fun" with it for about 6 months now... Officially, the property was "fully developed" but currently without supply. However, the application for the installation of the water meter started a "somewhat" annoying process. It turned out that the property was officially disconnected from the network in 2010. However, not by removing the water meter, but by direct disconnection from the network. (this was done in the course of the re-laying of the main line) I was now kindly informed by the water supplier that this is considered a new connection that is supposed to cost me about €2,000. So far, so annoying, as it was not planned. Having accepted this fact, I applied for a new water connection. When I then wanted to make the appointment for the site inspection, the next outrage followed immediately (in my opinion). Allegedly, there is no water pipe at all for my house. This is absolute nonsense, the old supply line is still where it was disconnected three years ago - about 2 meters away from the current main line. (which, by the way, runs through my property) According to the water supplier's statutes, the connection fee would therefore not be about €2,000, but just over €1,000. Anyone thinking everything will be fine... Unfortunately not. After a 20-minute phone call about 2m instead of 10m pipe, I was then informed that my water meter was previously inside the property and that this is no longer permitted with a new connection. The end result: about €2,000 more are due for the additional water meter chamber in the front yard. The question now arises for me, are they trying to pull a fast one on me??? To what extent is this really a "new connection"? Am I really obliged to relocate my water meter location outside even though it was inside until three years ago and theoretically still is? Is there such a thing as a grandfather clause? And why was I only offered afterward, despite new connection billing, that they had forgotten €2,000 for the water meter chamber in the KVA? Best regards and thanks for your helpful answers, Marco
