Hello everyone,

I’m Tobias, 28, and I live in NRW.
Last year we bought a detached single-family house. So we bought a new front door in a store that only does front doors including installation.

Aluminum front door with side panel, previously there was an old steel door.

First of all, the installers didn’t arrive at the site until 6 pm last Saturday, which of course was annoying because something like that takes time, but the boss said don’t worry, it will be installed even if they (the installers) work until 11 pm.

Outside there were tiles around the door, it was already said that would be tricky and they could break, okay no problem as long as the bricks on the other side stay intact.

As it had to happen, the installer thought that the door frame goes behind the tiles and therefore cut into the tiles; when he did that he just said sorry, that shouldn’t have been done, the frame sits flush.
Still, the tiles broke, but I accept that.

However, when trying to remove the old door, a 2 cm thick porcelain stoneware plate inside broke. Annoying... of course, they continued and now in talks with the boss I’m told well, uh, you have to expect that something might get damaged.

Is that so?? It was said the tiles outside were tricky but that the plates inside would break. Oh yes, the helper of the installer also put the angle grinder on backwards (protective shield on top) and thus hit another natural stone plate when grinding the old door.

Now my question, do I have to accept this?

Would be thankful for clarification
Regards
Tobias

Seems like a very shady company if the technicians voluntarily work until 11 PM...

How high do you estimate the financial damage to be?
I would reduce the invoice.

So what if they only show up at 6 PM? Some people finish work then, that has no value, plus it’s dark at that time. What can break, sure, but if you point that out beforehand, you should be careful to prevent it from happening.
