Hello to the roof experts, is there a special name for this silver-gray rail/strip/gutter/?, which can be seen here in the photo between the roof tiles of the main roof and the bay window roof? And, in this context: Is it normal that it is so wide and prominent, or could it be made less conspicuous somehow (e.g., painted black)?

This is the so-called throat; the sheet metal (if it is sheet metal) corresponds to the throat flashing. Trade roofer. Here, in my opinion, the tiles are cut very generously.

This is the roof valley, or the valley flashing. The width is necessary to direct the water away. It always looks like this and if you don’t like it, the saying goes: You get used to it ;)

Moreover. The red in it is definitely not rust but the dust from the cut roof tiles and thus washes away and looks better.

Yes, that is also our assumption and hope. When comparing with other houses, we also found that it looks quite broad, but well, maybe it rains more over our house... ;-)
