No one here can tell you much more than that you have no claim to warranty if it doesn't work.
Personally, I would try it. If I didn't feel good about it, I would screw it to the wall at the bottom. Since the brackets are not available as spare parts, for example, one could drill through the bottom strip (small hole at the back, large hole at the front), place a suitable piece of wood or something between the wall and the strip, and screw the strip firmly in place.
