Hey,

healthy new year to everyone.

The general contractor electrician is offering to install a motion detector from Steinel above the front door. The model was not named (presumably Sens IQ), but one where you can set several zones and also how far each zone should be illuminated. Costs just under 160€ including installation.

Now there are also outdoor lights (next to the front door) that also have a motion detector. Are there advantages or disadvantages for or against one or the other? So both together or rather separate?

Thanks!

Make them independent and good. By the way, the SensiQ is a very good detector (Imho).

As I said, I suspect that this is the one, according to the electrician's description.

What speaks against a "2 in 1" variant?

And following on immediately, is there something to watch out for with an outdoor lamp? Certain minimum brightness? Which would then be what? or....

What about, for example, this kind of LED floodlight? There is also one from Steinel, e.g. "XLED Home 2 XL" (although it comes with a motion sensor)

Both approaches have their justification. However, the selection of lamps is always larger if they do not have built-in detectors. Furthermore, the adjustment options are naturally more extensive with separate detectors.
