Hello,
I think a very frequently discussed topic :-)
We are currently building, or rather having built. It is a prefab house in timber frame construction with a cold roof, three ventilation holes in the wall on the south and north sides.
The following ceiling structure from bottom to top:
12.5 mm drywall, 0.2 mm vapor retarder, 22 mm wooden battens, 240 mm thick ceiling beams filled with 240 mm full thermal insulation layer, 20 mm formwork boards.
Some time ago we already noticed that there is strong moisture directly at the chimney. According to the construction company, condensate from the screed. Well, we just accepted that.
This weekend the big surprise, around the chimney and in two other places in the attic there are green mold spots.
According to the construction company, you can simply wipe it away and let it dry.
We have house handover on Thursday, I am not so sure if wiping it away is enough.
There shouldn’t actually be any rising condensate because of the vapor barrier, right?
