Hello,
does anyone of you have mirrored windows in the house?
We would like to have some in the living room and in the kitchen/dining room so that not everyone can look directly inside.
What are your experiences?
Thanks in advance!

Hello,

we had also thought about it - however, we quickly moved away from the idea because the mirroring (see mirrored sunglasses) absorbs a lot of light and bright rooms were more important to us.

Dirk

Will everyone look inside immediately? The question is serious – why should someone now catch something interesting for the eye with you?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

We are building in the industrial area, right next to our company headquarters.
And the living spaces face the street or the company driveway.
And we don’t necessarily want employees to be able to look directly in when, for example, we are sitting at the coffee table.

So far, a window manufacturer has advised against it. He said it wouldn’t help much, since the reflective coating becomes ineffective as soon as the lights are on inside the house.
That’s clear. But in summer it’s light for a long time anyway, so you only turn on the lights later. And in winter, I usually close the shutters relatively early.

Another window manufacturer said it could be done without any worries. And the rooms would hardly get any darker.

That’s why it would of course be great if someone had installed it and could tell me whether they are satisfied with it.

Hi,
although I'm not at home, here at work I am sitting in a building with mirrored windows. And they are mirrored so strongly that you really can’t see inside during the day. Yes, it does absorb some light, but actually not much. We still need these vertical blinds when there is direct sunlight.
I can’t offer you a direct comparison, we don’t have any windows here that open.
However, I would find the appearance rather unusual for a residential building; the windows are [k***braun] mirrored, 80s style...

Best regards,

Andreas
