Hello,

are there actually laws, standards, or guidelines that define the minimum requirements for the condition of a public road? Background: in our town, there is a street that is (repeatedly) in such a poor condition that it is sometimes no longer passable with normal cars...

So she gets patched up every now and then?

Have you ever contacted your city regarding this?

well, rather newly gravelled. The road has a steep gradient and gets washed out when it rains, creating deep ruts and ditches. Yes, we have been there already, but I think it would be easier for everyone involved (residents/municipality) to rely on binding uniform standards. (not too much and not too little rework)

In the German Wikipedia there is the lemma Liste_der_technischen_Regelwerke_für_das_Straßenwesen_in_Deutschland

Unfortunately, links are not allowed here, but this way you will find it ...

If you then find a regulation that fits your concern, feel free to get back to me. I am interested in such things ...

I would try to make the opposition in the municipal council focus sharply on the issue. It is definitely possible to "achieve" through legal means that the party responsible for the building obligations complies with the traffic safety duty by surrounding the potholes with warning barriers ;-)
