Hello! I have fallen in love with marble tiles for our bathroom. The style is very rustic, almost a bit "worn" (used). Now, all the "experts" (neighbors, relatives.... ;) advise against it because supposedly they are not good for moisture, and get stains quickly.... But the tiles are made to look "aged" anyway. That wouldn't bother me. We also have a water softener in the new house. Or is it too maintenance-intensive for a family with 3 children? And to maintain them with what? Thank you for your tips. Greetings from us house builders

You just have to be aware that such tiles are more sensitive, especially they must not be cleaned with normal cleaning agents usually used in the bathroom because marble is a limestone. There are special care and cleaning products for that. And things that can sometimes happen in the bathroom, like nail polish dripping on the tile – well, then good advice is expensive. With stoneware, I would pull out the nail polish remover, but of course, that is not possible with marble tiles.

My brother renovated an old house and (since it is a listed building) used natural stone tiles everywhere. Only in the bathroom they refrained from it because, with three (very lively) children, it was too risky for them.
You just have to know whether you want to take the risk that there might be stains that cannot be removed or that the surface can be etched by harsh cleaners or similar (nail polish remover, for example).

Personally, it would annoy me to have to use different cleaning agents for the bathroom. You need to be clear about that too.

Have a look around: most of the time, there are tiles with such an appearance. And without the requirements of real marble.
