the tiler was here. At the transition between the shower tray and the tiles, we have a large gap. So big that you can even see the support of the shower tray made of styrofoam underneath. Shouldn't the tiles be laid a little bit under the edge of the shower tray? Almost up to the edge of the styrofoam support?
If the tiler now fills this gap with silicone, it will be a large joint that probably won't last long. Because with getting in and out as well as the movements while showering, the whole construction moves a bit due to the shower tray support, and quickly the silicone will crack and all the water will run behind, underneath, against the styrofoam, which will then rot, etc.
Wouldn't it make more sense to tile up to the tray support (styrofoam) under the edge of the shower tray and then seal the edge with silicone as it is now? If the silicone joint cracks, then the water will not run directly underneath but will still be on the tile.
Sure, it could still touch the styrofoam, but at least it wouldn't run underneath or cause damage there. In one picture, you can see that he tiled a bit under the shower tray on the left side.
What do you think?
