Hello house construction experts,
I am reaching out to you because I am currently in the situation of having to / being allowed to write a master’s thesis.
I am enrolled in the Civil Engineering program with a specialization in Construction Operations.
My supervisor presented me with several possible topics, from which I should choose one. This is not fixed, but may still be modified.

I decided on the topic "Energy-optimized building services engineering - Identification of different efficiencies".
After extensive research, I have unfortunately not made much progress yet. I would like to narrow down the topic significantly, as it is still very general at the moment and I therefore do not know where to start. I want to focus primarily on heat generation!

Now the question to you:
What do you think would be a sensible narrowing of the topic? What is interesting and has not yet been extensively covered?

I would like to thank you in advance for your expert opinion!

Hello,
Very welcome that the "builders" are dealing more closely with heating technology.

Since it is about energy, however, considering the utilization factor or the annual performance factor for heat pumps seems much more meaningful, since the efficiency always only represents an instantaneous value related to performance. Both values can be unified with the heat generator effort factor.
It is highly recommended to study DIN 4701 especially -10, 4108-6, 832.
Not a bad idea.
One could focus on one type of heat generator e.g. heat pumps, as these are gaining increasing importance. There would be enough material here for several dissertations ;-) Maybe you should look for a mentor from the HVAC field.

Hello everyone,
unfortunately, I am still not much further with the topic.
I just can't manage to get to the point of the topic.
Important questions for me are:
What is current and interesting in the TGA?
How can a bridge be built to the economic aspect from this?
What is possible within the scope of a master's thesis? (80-100 pages)

Regards,
Peter

Hi,

I don't mean to be a smartass, but shouldn't you have thought about it before you decided on your topic with your professor?

I went there and was allowed to choose one from about 15 topics. I decided on the aforementioned one because it seemed the most interesting to me. Nothing is lost yet! The paper hasn't been registered yet!

Hello everyone,
a brief update on the master's thesis: I have discarded the old topic and have gathered some new topic proposals:

• Quality seals as an indicator of sustainability in real estate - critical analysis
• Attractiveness of sustainable (existing) buildings from an investor's perspective (technical building equipment, image (increased comfort), etc.)
• Marketing strategies in the real estate industry (positioning a [Referenzgebäude] on the market, finding suitable users and investors)
• Consideration of the reduction of performance indicators of different trades (earthworks, masonry, concrete works, reinforcement works, ...) under various external conditions (precipitation, temperature, wind/storm) -> recording of change order figures
• Analysis of the learning curve effect: identification of dependencies between performance indicators and repetition number (floors -> dependence on height, prefabricated element assembly ...)
• Comparison of theory and actual equipment performance - [BGL] versus construction site

What do you think about the topics? I am currently reading into them a bit. However, I think the decision for a topic will not be easy.

Best regards
