Hello,

we are building a house (turnkey) and naturally have the option to choose upgrades.

At the moment we are in the process of selecting the bathroom fittings.

My question regarding this: Is it normal or allowed that the construction company reimburses you only a very low price for the standard version and charges perceived high prices for the upgrades?

Example:

Reimbursement for steel shower tray derby 90x90x14 cm, white = 60.59
Additional cost for Optiset acrylic rectangular shower tray 900x900x35 mm, white = 379.61

Thank you.

Regards.

depends on the provider. Here, a seemingly cheap provider can end up being expensive. And as far as I know, it is all at the discretion of the provider. One reads that very often anyway.

This is a sales concept of some "inexpensive" providers. Cheap basic offer with an environment that they know 90% of builders will not accept anyway. For changes, they then charge heavily. In the end, the originally inexpensive overall offer sometimes becomes significantly more expensive than that of an honest competitor.

Best regards.

Your example looks as if they want to credit you the purchase price for the standard element and charge the list price for the new element (the steel tray is in the range of €160 list sales price). Fairness surely works differently.

well, your property developer certainly doesn't pay the list price.... maybe he really buys these bathtubs at the price he told you. Now you can be sure it had a good reason that your house provider was so cheap.
Take a look at what a interior door with frame and fittings costs minimally in the hardware store... you can do that for 100 €. I get almost 400 € reimbursed per door from my supplier.
But through mixed calculations, I'm sure every provider makes a little profit here :)
