Hi!

After a few weeks, I now wanted to install the mounting plates for the sliding doors and am now looking for the right screws.

I found the instructions, and according to them, the plates are screwed on pages 37 (screw 101065) and 38 (screw 110438) accordingly.

From my point of view, the thread in the illustration is a wood thread (steeply rising thread), which is correct for fastening to the corpus. But the screw in the door frame should, in my opinion, have metal thread screws (flat rising thread). In the illustration, these have a countersunk head for the screw thread – I would have expected more of a flat contact surface!

Can anyone help me...? If I see it correctly, Ikea only uses a few basic screws for these small parts.

Maybe also with length specifications for these screws so that I can pick the right ones from my screw box.

Best regards, Jan

Hello, 101065 is a (self-tapping) 3.5 x 13 sheet metal screw with a countersunk head. The knurling on the screw head ensures that the screw does not loosen easily on its own. With a flat head, a spring washer would then be appropriate.

110438 is a 3.5 x 15 chipboard screw with a pan head. I agree with you that the pan head should sit flat. If that is not the case, the easiest solution might be to adjust the hole with a countersink, if no better screw is available. Most people don't worry about such things, but I wouldn't be satisfied with sloppy work either.

By the way, the screws in the assembly instructions are depicted at a 1:1 scale.

Hi!

So today I tried to screw the rail onto the door frame. That’s actually more difficult afterwards than you initially think.

One screw is in – but when I look at it properly, I wonder how that’s supposed to hold. The mounting rail has a kind of rebate and the screw, due to the countersunk head, doesn’t create any clamping pressure at all.

Slowly the Phillips head is starting to strip while screwing.

Can any of you tell me how to properly tighten this or send me a picture of the screw area?

Regards Jan

Make sure to use a good Pozidrive and not a Philips cross-head screwdriver. A cordless screwdriver can be helpful. To press firmly, it is advantageous if the door is lying on the floor.

hi!

so you mean that's correct and then just go full "speed" with it?

Hello, yes. It does require a good torque to cut the thread with the screw. If you prefer, you can also cut a thread with a thread cutter and use a threaded screw.
