Hello forum,

I am looking for an architect with experience in the complete renovation of a listed house built in 1914 in Dresden Hellerau.
It is important to me that the focus is not primarily on preserving everything that can be preserved, but rather that the house is at least remodeled inside in consideration of the preservation order so that modern living is possible.
Example: Currently, the access to the garden is through the bathroom accessible from the kitchen-living area on the ground floor. The bedrooms are located on the upper floor. An architect working mostly in the artistic field tried to convince me that this 1914 typical layout would still be the best solution today...
So it is about working out a floor plan change within the approval limits with experience and willingness.

I am grateful for all contact suggestions!

He is always busy and doesn’t want to accept anything, but if you talk to him a bit, he will still include you in the file. Best regards to him from Berlin, we had a few projects together.

As I already advised you in : investigate who has already renovated houses by this architect; he has probably designed several buildings locally and in the surrounding area, and I suspect that several of them are still standing.

That means, if I were you, I would call local architects starting with those over 60 and ask very directly for references regarding which works of this architect have already been renovated. Such professionals are usually also known to the cultural officer, museum director, or Lions / Rotary president.

Thank you very much! I am already in the initial preliminary talks. The local citizens' association has given me contact details of the owners of the already renovated houses, and they are usually happy to share their experiences and contacts with their architects.
