Hello,

I want to remove a wall (11.5 cm thick in the floor plan) in a house (built in 1962). See photos.
What kind of material is this?
Could this be a load-bearing wall?
There are no walls in that location on the floor above or below.

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

Thomas

That is a structural engineer's favorite topic, to give an opinion from afar and without further knowledge!!! Can't you even provide floor plans? Are there floorboards on the upper floor where one can see the direction of the laying? Very likely it will not bear the load but ....

Best to ask a structural engineer... it will probably not be load-bearing, but can serve for bracing and then a piece of wall should remain on both the right and left sides.

Given the age of the house, there should be a structural calculation in the building file. So go to the building authority and get a copy. Everything is in there and if in doubt, a structural engineer can explain it.

Looks like pumice stone. Load-bearing?

Thank you very much for the answers. I also strongly suspected that the wall is not load-bearing. Today we had the opportunity to look at the situation without the wall in an identical house. No beam was installed there, and the owners consulted a structural engineer at that time. So the wall can be removed.
