Hello everyone,
I am new here and already looking forward to your numerous responses.
I will soon be moving with my small family (wife and one child) into a so-called townhouse:
That means living, eating, cooking on the ground floor, 2x child + WC + shower on the first floor, sleeping + large bathroom on the second floor.
We have been wondering for a while now what would be most practical or how it looks in your townhouses.

The following is currently pressing us:
Washing: We are currently used to washing on one level (because we live in an apartment where the washing machine and dryer are in the bathroom).
I have now thought it would be most practical with the above-mentioned room layout to plan the washing on the 2nd floor in the large master bathroom, if possible, since then I would have to go down only one floor to the kids to collect laundry.
What do you think, is that practical? Was that technically even possible for you (townhouse owners)? I am asking regarding noise pollution, pipe routing, and similar issues.

Thank you very much in advance!

What is a "Townhouse" supposed to be now? A town house, just in English? A terraced house, just a more modern term? Or a house from the "Stadt & Land" company that builds nationwide?

I'm curious! :)

a combination of the first and second of your answer. Nowadays a terraced house in the city is called that. I don't really know what role that plays in answering the question, but whatever. And I also can't understand why a moderator in a house construction forum would make such a post. No hard feelings. But a moderator should delete your post because it is useless. Sorry. I'm just annoyed that the first answer is immediately criticized so strangely based on the wording.....

A townhouse is simply not a city villa.

With this type of construction, you always have very little space per floor, but usually about 3/4 of a floor more.

Here in the area, this is currently very popular, especially when small plots within the city are developed by builders (e.g., old factory sites after soil replacement) and the new development plan allows 2 stories. This way, the number of owner-occupied homes in a small area is increased. If you then own 220 sqm of land, that is almost a noble corner plot.

I find this type of construction really stylish but impractical, since you always have one more floor, especially as you get older.

With a basement, you then have 3 staircases in the house that you have to climb more or less regularly.

Either accept that and place the washing machine/dryer in the basement or put it where there is still the most space for it, including the iron and other equipment like laundry baskets.

Good evening,

And I am currently annoyed that you put on such a performance right at the beginning of your membership. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it you who is looking for answers? Are follow-up questions only acceptable to you if they fit your question pattern?

Rhenish greetings

It's Sunday evening, boys and girls...

But I asked myself the same question in my mind when I read the title... "What is this now again" and then I put it away in the drawer labeled "Marketing," just like the city villa.
