Hello everyone,

this year we are building a semi-detached house in Lower Bavaria. We are currently working on the lighting planning, which we want to implement, among other things, with KNX; which system (Dali & DMX or REG-LED controller) is still not quite clear to us.

We have made a first draft and would like to hear/read your opinion about it...

What could be optimized here?? Which system would you find better for the lighting? The spots in the kitchen and bathroom are Dim2Warm, otherwise we would still like to use LED RGBW(W).

We look forward to your suggestions for improvement.

Best regards

With Jpgs you are better off here. Few still like to open files separately [emoji4]

Just briefly: If you get a controlled residential ventilation system and have ceiling outlets, be sure to mark them. Also the smoke detectors. Also check the distance to the lighting. These things work based on temperature differences – keyword false alarms. Why does the guest WC actually not get a PM? About the PMs themselves. They usually work better with tangential (passing by) movements than with radial (walking directly towards) ones. Also, I would already think about which PMs you want to install, mainly because of the detection range (for presence often less than for movement). This could be an issue in the living room. Because of tangential/radial, possibly move the PM in the upper floor hallway to the other side. In the master bathroom, I would move the PM more towards the bathtub so you don’t sit in the dark while bathing. The shower will probably have a glass door, with your PM detection inside the shower won’t be possible anyway – unless you go for RF PMs. Otherwise, I notice an awful lot of spots – if you have concrete ceilings and don’t lower them, that could become a cost factor. Have you thought about getting a lighting plan made? Somehow I fear way too much light in the rooms. Better well-positioned and targeted to create ambiance and less stadium-like floodlight through myriads of recessed spots (I don’t really like recessed spots either – somehow too... well I don’t know... mainstream?! [emoji6]). Oh yes, and I would save the money for the ceiling speakers, that was a thing back in the ’80s, nowadays you have LAN/WLAN everywhere at home anyway, in my humble opinion you’re more flexible (and probably also cheaper) with Teufel, Bose, SONOS. You can also integrate them into your KNX. I could imagine your structural engineer will be thrilled with the Swiss cheese of the floor slabs: recessed spots, PM boxes, smoke detectors, speakers, possibly supply/exhaust air vents… [emoji6]

LED panel, 29 W, 2800 lm, 6000 K, round, 200 mm

Dimmable or not... what are you planning to do in the hallway?? This is actually stadium lighting! Plan a large light opening in the front door, then the community can save on street lighting in that area

Overall TOTALLY oversized and - for my taste - not for a single-family house. Have you ever seen such a light fixture live? First, think about how the rooms should look later on.

The keyword lighting design was already mentioned by ruppsn. If you don't want to use professional planning, you can also find some good websites online on how to plan lighting in and around the house - just google it

Green are ceiling outlets? And what does the cross [emoji777] mean? For example, one is enough in the utility room; those in the hallway and kitchen don't make sense to me. I also don't understand those in the upstairs hallway. Well, that might be due to the KNX system... but it's about lighting design, not operation. Guest WC: with that size, the mirror lighting is sufficient. Wall lighting was not considered at all, including those colored strips in the living room?
