I have not found a collective thread for [Lichthöfe] so far. Questions I ask myself: 1. How much light does a [Lichthof] really provide? Can it, for example, be replaced by two or three light shafts if cheaper? 2. What costs would one have to expect in southern Germany for a simple [Lichthof] with gravel and simple concrete stones or natural stones for securing? 3. How should a [Lichthof] be secured against heavy rainfall / flooding? Water drainage (cleaning problem if leaves etc. get in), backflow flap, and similar. 4. How big should a basement window (width, height) for a [Lichthof] reasonably be? Costs?

What do you have in the room? The more you stay in it, the more light you need.

Ah, I had forgotten to write: It is about using it as an office, where you stay at different times throughout the whole day on weekends, and sometimes work from home during the week (sometimes morning, sometimes afternoon). Alternatively: use as a bedroom. For a storage room or workshop, I wouldn't necessarily need daylight :)

For an official lounge area, approximately 1/10 of the floor area in window surfaces. Preferably more. The light courtyard or the light well is based on this. Light wells are prefabricated and usually steep. Light courtyards are built by oneself, preferably a bit deeper and larger, sloping so that more light can enter. With stones or plants. Cleaning: go in, collect leaves, get out. A good drainage with gravel etc., just like with the house splash guard, prevents water accumulation.

For bedrooms or regularly used offices, I would choose a light well; personally, otherwise I would feel somehow trapped, but that is purely a subjective feeling.
Knecht offers nice solutions for basements, light strips, and light floodlights, which I think look nice and do not take up as much space as a light well.

Definitely remember the escape route in the basement.

I looked at the catalog, very appealing solutions. How much does such a light band cost? Or a floodlight. Do you have any ideas, experiences?

That must then be a window from which you can climb out (with a ladder?), right?

Floor area = room size or wall area on which you could place a window? If room size: For a 14m² room that would only be a window of 1m x 1.40m...

And finally: How much space does such a light court need? For example, is 4m to the neighbor enough if the basement is not elevated, i.e. completely underground?
