Hello everyone,

we are currently considering which patio door to choose. We are undecided and have done a bit of research online. I would ask you to add points or point out incorrect ones.

Lift-and-slide door:
- used to be less tight, now equally tight
- better sound and thermal insulation
- little/no threshold
- only open/close
- more expensive
- more stable/durable

PSK door:
- equally tight
- better protected against forced entry by mushroom-head locks
- threshold
- tilt function
- cheaper
- not as stable/durable

Presumably, the collected points are not the whole truth, so I would be interested in how you decided and why.

Thanks and greetings

Has been discussed several times. What exactly does expensive mean?

My PSK is "louder" than a lift-and-slide door because I always have to push it into the frame. If I could choose today, I would take a lift-and-slide door ...

Am I in the wrong place here? Do you have a link? The result of the discussion would be interesting. I can't tell you what more expensive specifically means; I have only listed the results of my research. Part of the question is also whether that is even true.

We paid almost €1000 extra for an upgrade from a standard 3 m window door element to the lift-and-slide door. I would therefore be interested to know what the surcharge for the PSK is.

I consider the tilt function dispensable, therefore I see the lift-slide door at the front. If costs play a role, wouldn't a "normal" tilt-and-turn door be an option?
