Hello!

I currently have PVC flooring in a hallway (about 2.5x3m area) in an apartment. It should be removed and replaced with tiles.

I have considered doing it myself. Although I have watched how it is done, I have not done it myself. Do you think it is doable for a beginner in tile laying? I am not unskilled with crafts (I am an electrician), I have also installed laminate and done many other jobs, but tiling is new territory :-) Can you do a lot wrong when laying tiles?

I would appreciate tips :)

Thank you!

Hello, the most important thing is that the substrate is really level, you can't level much with tile adhesive. So if your substrate is even, laying tiles is not that difficult. Good luck Kugelgnom

Tiling is not difficult, as already mentioned the substrate is the most important preparation! Then follows the selection of the tiles and afterwards a very important part - the grouting!

Basically a simple thing just google for instructions and give it a try - it won't be as "perfect" as a professional tiler with years of experience does but with a spirit level, straightedge etc it will be a good result!

Quick guide:

treat the substrate (depending on what is there)
apply tile adhesive
"stick" tiles
use tile spacers
grout
"clean up"

Check with a straightedge/spirit level of course before the adhesive has set!! so you can fix it easily without any effort
