Hello everyone,

we are working on the outdoor areas. We want to use corten steel instead of lawn edging stones. However, there are now thousands of suppliers and formats for this.

Does anyone have experience with corten steel as lawn edging, especially for the house-surrounding splash guard / gravel strip? In particular, the material thickness (everything from 1-6mm thick is available) is a big question mark.

One supplier that has been recommended to us is Gartenmetall. I have also now found Göttefunke...

Thanks!

In the ground-contact area, everything under 4 mm rusts through quickly. For gravel fillings, dark stones should be chosen, white ones discolor quite quickly. Corten steel is considered stable, but the stable rust patina only forms stably under ideal conditions – so actually never.

I don't. But I also wouldn't know why I should prepare a barely visible strip like that. It needs space to have an effect.

It's also simply easier (especially lighter) to install, so I still see a practical advantage. You don't need concrete, just ground anchors...

Not really. I've installed both. Although not made of Corten steel, but the "cheap version". Corten steel is simply too expensive for me.

Corten steel also performs better permanently in a concrete base.
