Hello everyone

I urgently need your help. I have a semi-detached house. Previously, a family lived there in both halves and I paid my property tax and everything as usual. But now the new wastewater regulation has come. Since I received the bill for the entire property (both halves) from the city, I went to the city and they told me that the property is divided proportionally but not measured to determine how much each half has. Now I am receiving the bill and would have to calculate with my neighbor who has to pay how much. The woman said it can also be measured, but that comes with costs. long story short.. If I want to have it measured now, who bears the costs? All owners whose properties border mine? Or only the person who initiated the measurement??? Please help me

Hello Spale,

first of all in general:
The costs for the surveyor must be paid by the person who commissioned him.

Regarding your specific case:
I would urgently talk to the neighbor about it. With the current bill, you somehow have to come to an agreement, but then I would really have the properties surveyed as quickly as possible!
Do you have a good relationship with your neighbor?
Then you should also be able to agree on the costs of the survey.

The problem, in my opinion, is the following: even if you get along well with your neighbor now, that does not mean it will stay that way. Or your neighbor has to/wants to move for professional reasons (private reasons, ... , ...) – you don’t know who the new neighbor will be and whether you will get along well with them!

I am very clearly of the opinion: even if you get along very well with the neighbors – everything must be clearly and legally separated and regulated – then the chances are greatest that you will get along well on a long-term basis! :D

Best regards
Micha
