Many home builders can now expect funding for their energy-efficient homes after the sudden KfW funding stop. According to unanimous agency reports, the involved ministries agreed on Tuesday that applications submitted before the funding stop on January 24 should be processed according to the old criteria.
The federal government had prematurely stopped the funding for energy-efficient buildings in view of an application flood and high costs. Instead of being able to submit applications until January 31, applications could only be submitted until January 24. It was uncertain for a long time how to handle applications that had already been submitted but not yet approved. The funds previously planned by the state-owned development bank KfW are not sufficient for this.
According to earlier statements by Economics Minister Robert Habeck, the program would have reached a volume of 14 billion euros without a stop. At the time of the stop, applications with a volume of 7.2 billion euros were still pending – but according to government information only 1.8 billion euros of budget funds were still available.
According to the current status, home builders who wanted to submit applications after the funding stop and before the end of the month will initially come away empty-handed. However, the federal government is negotiating programs that are supposed to replace the previous funding.
