Hello everyone,
our previous tenant left us a joint-arm awning in "top condition".
After a first (layman’s) analysis, the basic structure is okay. The awning can be extended and retracted, and it also gives a stable impression when extended.
I’m considering just replacing the awning fabric. With some rust removal and basic cleaning, the awning should then fulfill its purpose.
Problem 1: Tension wire in one of the two joint arms torn
Can this be replaced? If I understand correctly, the tension wire is hooked onto the hook and then fixed with an adjusting screw? That should be easy to do, or am I mistaken?
Problem 2: Slightly twisted
The awning does not extend straight but is about 20-30 cm “crooked.” However, I assume this has to do with the missing tension wire.
What do you say? Feasible or total loss?
Here are some data and pictures:
Width: 4.40m
Depth: 2.62m
