Dear Sir or Madam,
although DIN 1986-100 clearly specifies how to dimension and ventilate wastewater pipes, sometimes there are some ambiguities....My question concerns the application limits for unventilated individual connection pipes in the wastewater system, namely: the standard says that the aforementioned pipe can be unventilated if the height difference between its connection and the pipe invert of the branch connection to the downpipe is less than or equal to 1 meter (are there other conditions as well)
How should this height be correctly measured in my case (pictures below)? The drainage fixtures are located on the ground floor, the building has no basement levels. So drainage goes directly down to the sewer main
1) According to the DIN, as far as I understand, the appropriate height here is 500 mm....?
2) Or is the branch to the sewer main considered the lower reference point? In that case, the height difference is much more than 1 meter and the individual connection pipe must be ventilated.
This can also be put differently: Is a vertical pipe always a downpipe, even though it often does not run through several floors and is quite short? If yes, then design variant 1 is correct. If no, then a vertical pipe can, for example, be considered a collecting connection pipe and how to measure the height difference in this case is unclear...
The same applies to picture 2. Two washbasins, a short pipe going down to the connection to the sewer main. Should this also be additionally ventilated?
I think that in the aforementioned situations no extra ventilation is needed if all other application limits are met.
