Is masonry still done at -2 degrees Celsius?

Hi,

today our foundation slab is being poured ... yippee! Now our hill also looks like something is being built on it and I have already imagined myself in our 4 new walls.
However, Mrs. Holle has just blown cold air at us and it will be quite chilly for the next 2 weeks. Mostly above freezing during the day but often around -2 degrees at night.

What are the experiences: Will masonry still be done under these conditions? When the sun is shining, it feels significantly warmer than the thermometer shows, but does the mortar care about that?

The processing instructions usually say +5°C. Many winter days look like it is either generally too cold or the daily high temperature of 4-5°C is only reached from 12-2 pm. However, work is mostly done from 7 am to 3 pm. The adhesive does not cure or set during the 1-2 warm hours. For your own interest, you are well advised to prohibit masonry work below +5°C. The lower the temperature, the greater the likelihood of construction defects.
