Is it possible to shorten the Ikea Sända rail system?

Hi guys, I have a huge problem :( I have a ceiling connection in the middle of the room. Now I would like to use the rail system SÄNDA to mount some lamps above the dining table..... Can the rails be shortened? Or is it possible to install the rail so that the ceiling connection is centered under the rail.... I hope what I am writing here is understandable to everyone. I want to go to Ikea early tomorrow and absolutely need this info beforehand :(

I have a similar problem and am considering installing the Sända 4-way connector 701.714.61 between 2x70cm Sända rails, as it is also a ceiling power connection.
