Is it possible to shorten the Ikea Lack shelf?

Hello, I would like to shorten 2 lacquered shelves that are mounted with hidden brackets. They are available with a depth of 26cm. However, that would be too much in my kitchen. I thought about sawing off 6cm. The same with the brackets. Has anyone done this before? Will there still be enough material left in the hollow board to fit it onto the brackets?
