Is it possible to paint titanium zinc and then gild it?

I want to build a small porch roof that will be covered with sheet metal.
There will be titanium zinc on a dormer on the house, so the porch roof will also get this sheet metal.
It might possibly be gilded at some point. (if the upcoming lottery win needs to be accommodated or something ;))
Gilding on sheet metal requires a paint as a base.
What I have learned is that gilding galvanized iron parts can be difficult, but it is possible.

Does anyone have more detailed information on whether titanium zinc can be successfully (permanently) gilded?
... for example, whether there are church roofs with titanium zinc that are gilded?

I can imagine that the sheet metal is first electroplated with copper, then it is probably possible to gold-plate it afterwards. I would ask companies that do chrome plating.

... hmm ... we haven't quite understood each other yet. Then I could just use copper ... It should be titanium zinc (and look like that), and maybe be gilded later ... but thanks anyway for thinking along :)

Then the only thing that comes to mind is wrapping. They even have it in chrome gold. Or there is also gold paint.

or do it like, for example, the monks in Thailand: apply gold leaf. It just has to be absolutely windless and the surface prepared (nicely smoothly polished). Then apply the leaflets with a brush, smooth them out and burnish. That works on wood, glass, ceramic, why not on titanium zinc?

Yes, gold leaf is the plan ... (and for outdoor work, there is "transfer gold," which is mounted on paper and can also be processed even with "air movement." I often use this for oil gilding indoors as well because it is easier)

Zinc seems to have some kind of "emissions" that are bad for the gold (that's what I have read). Then it can become matte or gray?
Varnish can prevent that – and varnish is needed for leaf gilding anyway.
But only very certain varnishes adhere to zinc. (most just flake off)
Whether any of those also prevent possible zinc damage, I do not know.

... and I also don't know if I even know all the possible problems that can occur with it. That's why I would like to find someone who really "knows" about it ....

Yesterday I contacted someone who manufactures and sells gilded sheet metal roof elements on eBay ... but I don't want to buy anything from him, just get information ...
Let's see if anything comes back.
