Hello everyone,
we are renovating our garage.
The walls were cleared of old, loose plaster and replastered with reinforcing mesh and lime-cement plaster. A top coat will follow here.
However, my plasterer is having problems plastering the ceiling. It consists of Heraklit boards, which were previously filled with putty.
The ceiling was also cleared here of loose putty again, after which the new plaster should be applied.
The plasterer’s previous statement was: It can be plastered without any problems, you don’t need to prime it either, no problem.
Now he says that the entire ceiling has to be removed because the plaster does not adhere.
My questions:
The boards got water a few years ago through the leaking roof. However, everything has now dried out and the roof has been newly sealed.
It seems that the boards are glued (probably with mortar – I can’t find any nails or screws) and they can only be removed with great effort and probably not completely. Therefore, I would like to save myself the effort of removal.
Thanks in advance!

[*]However, Heraklit boards are suitable as a plaster carrier, aren’t they?
The boards got water a few years ago through the leaking roof. However, everything has now dried out and the roof has been newly sealed.
[*]Can the boards not be primed or pre-sprayed so that they can be plastered?
[*]An alternative would probably be to cover the ceiling again with, for example, Styrodur?
