Hello everyone,

we are currently renovating the entire house. The house is receiving comprehensive insulation. The basement remains uninsulated on the outside; only the basement ceilings are insulated.

The basement is mostly unheated.

We have two floors as well as a basement, with the staircase heated. On each floor and in the basement, a door leads to the staircase.

In the basement stairwell, we currently have some "cold bridges."

Wall 1 runs towards the soil and has not been insulated so far. Wall 2 leads to the storage room, which is cool. The floor also remains uninsulated.

The wall that leads up to the stairs runs in the basement towards a cold laundry room. This wall cannot be insulated because of the stairs, not even from the other side.

We would like to insulate Wall 1 and Wall 2, ideally with minimal thickness (e.g. PU/PIR). Otherwise, we use mineral wool or wood fiber throughout the house.

What do we need to consider here? Our energy consultant said that this is too complicated, especially regarding condensation, and suggested consulting a building physicist (because of only two walls?!).

Does insulating here make sense, and if so, how should we proceed?

Thank you very much!
